Description
The kumiko pattern which uses shorter and thinner horizontal members is called "kasumi-gumi", the word "kasumi" meaning "mist" in the Japanese language. There is a sense that the pattern displays the settling of a light mist within the structure. Many variances of expressions can be made with the kasumi pattern simply by increasing or decreasing the number of vertical or horizontal kumiko and altering the arrangement of the horizontal kasumi kumiko.
